HooDini, the only artist that everyone’s talking about for 2009, the freshest sounding, most talented artist to come out of West London in many, many years. From making beats to writing lyrics and even charming crowds, there really is no limit to the talent and capabilities.
Growing up in 90’s West London, living with his mum and sharing a room with his brother, he was influenced by various artists both classic and modern. He showed promise from a young age but was also at times considered the problem child, the ring leader, the one always either getting in trouble or causing it. Copley Close, one of the most notorious estates in West London at the time was where the early lessons were learnt. Taking charge and leading no matter what the task. A true man, that has earned respect from all around him.
Learning sometimes led to brushes with the law and lessons were occasionally learned the hard way in front of a judge. A few minor infractions led to a date with a judge and jury, at which point H double O D had a decision to make, a cross roads where he needed to chose a path. Luckily for music lovers everywhere he made the right choice and now fills his life with his love of music and focusing his energy on positive constructive things to make sure he never becomes another statistic stuck in jail.
From making that decision Hoodini has embarked on a personal mission to prove that your surroundings need have no bearing on your success in life. Mix tapes, albums, radio appearances and live performances have followed since, each stronger than the last. He has collaborated with various UK & US artists (Shiloh Westec, DB1 Gritty Committee, Speedy Rex, RYU, Stealth MC, Son of a Queen, Madixx Man PDC, Alistar, Purple Boii, Muzzle, Liquid, Team AnR, T Banks, Black Wolves, Dave Bars, Napoleon aka Big NAP, T Knibbs, Mr Moore, Karnage, Plus many more). ‘H’ also formed a group – Footsoldiers NTL, set-up a home studio and proceeded to self teach himself to use all of the latest audio software and equipment. The results speak for themselves.
‘H’ has performed on stage all across London including Deal Real Shop, Carnarby Street W1, SE1 Club along side some more establish artists such as Aggro, Free Yard Man, D Fam, Whatever you want, Alizay etc. He has also performed to various university crowds around the country. HooDini has recently performed at Amp’t, The Live Band Show alongside Hypa and Marcie with various upcoming artists such as Mr Middas and MaxWell D. Performed at the Ezra & Silk Show at Bar Eza in Reading. Most recent performances include auditioning, getting picked for and performing at the Open Mic UK London Regional Final at the Becks Theatre in front of a 600 strong crowd.
He has worked in professional studios such as Feltham with IC4 Jesse, Pressure P, Hez Studio 396 London Bridge, Xces Liverpool Street, Noctunal Studio, Westec Studio Iron Bridge & the Zone, Middlesex.
HooDini has also recently appeared on http://www.facebook.com/l/ead16;Phatbeats.co.uk and Bang Radio where his song received regular air play. He hosted his own radio show on lush FM and had an hour long feature on Platinum FM to play his music and to be interviewed. HooDini’s music also features on various radio stations such as Lush FM, Platinum FM and Juice FM. Auditioned at Play Recording Studio’s, Soho and although the company were keen to work with H Double OD, it wasn’t the right terms for the new artist so he continues his crusade of self promotion.
